Vestigium eating a snake

NDokai Mar 21, 2008 08:42 AM

Last year, our big male baja hopped out of his new cage (a stock tank). I had under estimated his jumping skills. He crawled through a small hole in the screen in an adjacent window, and into our window well. I found him in the window well only a few minutes after he escaped. I saw that he had found a meal, a western terrestrial garter snake about 12-14 inches long. I took a few pics of him in the window well, then moved him back to his cage for more pics. As he was not encouraged to eat the snake, this demonstates how opportunistic collared lizards are, when it comes to food.

Nick,
He's a nice looking vestigium. I'm glad you caught him eating the snake.
