Can't get a feeding response ( help!!!)

JURASSICSHACK Aug 28, 2003 08:01 PM

I have just acquired three adult farm raised frillies and
one of the three is doing fine. But the two much older and
larger dragons are quite skiddish. I've tried all the tricks
I know. They just don't respond to anything, like feeding off
tongs, or off the substrate, or in a bowl. I've tried crickets,
mealworms, and mice. And nothing. Please help if anything comes to mind.

They're probably still getting acclimated. But if it continues, don't take no for an answer. Put your fingers over their nostrils, mouth pops open, throw in the bug. Works every time. Watch your fingers!

The most important thing is to keep them hydrated (misting 1-2 times a day and a water bowl large enough for them to lay in) and leave them alone. They need time to settle in. If other animals are in view or if they see you walking by frequently, that can stress them out and cause them not to eat. If you just got them, there's probably nothing to worry about (they need time to acclimate).

I'd leave food (probably crickets/worms) in the tank where they can see it and just give the frilleds time to get comfortable in their new home. After they start eating and settle in, you can start to handle them more. Good luck.
