A colubrid...yes I think. And deffinately an albino...err...for those of you who break the traits down even further, it lacks black pigmentation and has red eyes. At first we thought corn but doesn't carry the same pattern as our younger one ( however we have taken into account that there are variable pattern differences between ages). Then we thought albino prarie king, then from the backs of our minds whispers of pine snake were being heard. So, what do yall think. Oh, and by the way, we got it from a person who had it dumped on him and cared not much for it. But, for us it was like hitting gold! Truely a magnificent specimen to our collection!!!!!
Thanks yall!

it's definitely a Pituophis species so you're in the right place. It's also definitely a bull snake. Looks like probably just an albino bull, maybe hybino. I'm a pine person and don't know much about bulls and hate anything albino except for retics so maybe someone else can help you with exact genetic makeup. Either way, nice snake, you got it for free, definitely not a bad deal.

Very nice animal. From the pattern and red tail I would say Sonoran Gopher.

looks Sonoran to me as well.

What is the differences between a bull and a gopher? And what is a hybino ( hyper-albino?)? It is not too often that I get this stumped but I could barely sleep last night because I was anticipating all the feedback.I do appreciate all of your feedback!
Thanks!!!!

Know of any sites out there that have pics of albino bulls and gophers?

There are several different types of gophers with distinctive patterning and color, but when it comes to the difference between a Sonoran and a bullsnake, the lines are blurry.
To be very general, bulls tend to be darker-blotched, while Sonorans have redder blotches.
However, in amels, the differences are usually clearer, the Sonorans being much redder, with paler ground color, while Bulls usually look very yellow in ground and orange blotched.
Best I can do.
Good luck

There really isn't much if any difference at all. "Bull snake" is the common name for a Gopher. I have a California Baja Gopher and when researching to properly identify it, I kept seeing "or commonly called a Bull Snake," everywhere.

Mine looks just like yours but not albino.
