Breading season(s) - on/off Topic DUW

rainbowsrus Mar 21, 2008 12:43 PM

I love this time of year, spring is here, everything is blossoming, snakes are either going at it or already gravid. Still not so close as to be pacing ewaiting for babies. Not as many eating so not as many dirty cages to clean. I'm thinking it's the calm before the storm.......

First a few more breeding pics...

Wilma and Fred at it again

Lucy and Diablo

Some of my BRB Girls, looking gravid already!!!

Ann bred by Phoenix

Tink also bred by Phoenix

Clover bred by Diablo

Lucy also bred by Diablo

Daisey bred by Fluffy

Molly bred by Hook

Hook was chillin' thinking about his job well done on Molly

Both Wilma and Betty are looking great but were not up for pics

I also took pics of my gravid and possibly gravid BCI girls last night. Listed in due date order....

This is Candy a Pastel CBLT bred to my stunning 2005 Summit Salmon Reeses. She looks like she will be my first to produce. Currently at POS + 85, she's so lumpy you can almost count the babies!!

This is Tootsie, Anery het Snow bred to York, Albino het snow. Not 100% sure on her (missed ovulation) but if I got the POS right, she's at POS + 80

This is Ruby and Jasmine (Ruby toward the right and back with Jasmine in the corner) Ruby is Coral albino bred to my Motley Boys and currently at POS + 59. Jasmine is Albino Arabesque also bred to my Motley boys and just had her POS so is only POS + 5 - will most likely be my last litter of the season.

Next is Spirit, a possible Super Ghost, bred to Boo, also a possible Super Ghost. Sadly Boo bred himself to death. Little guy would not stop, would not eat and passed away right after Spirit ovulated. Spirit is at POS + 54. Looks like Boo did his job.

This is Taffy, a DH sunglow bred by Dagwood, Albino pos het stripe. She's at POS + 35

Crystal, DH snow bred by Fireball TH Snowglow. At POS + 27.

Vanilla pos Super Ghost bred by my Motley boys, she's at POS + 15

Th next three girls are all illiterate and never read the breeding handbook. Each has had some signs of being gravid but not clear and/or conflicting dates. Maybe gravid, maybe not - time will tell!!

Sierra, Albino pos het Snow bred by Toffee, Anery pos het Snow.

Cinnamon, Salmon pos Super bred by Pepper, aby line male.

Coral, Coral albino bred by Reeses, my outstanding 2005 Summit Salmon.

One more - Amber, really not sure at all on her and still with two males but no activity and didn't get a pic of her.

It's coming together and sorry but have not taken very many pics, was just too busy building to stop and take pics. I owe my older a huge thanks for all the help she'd been giving me during this time. She's been pitching in and cleaning cages for me.

The room is framed, insulated, door installed with hardware and locks rekeyed to match the house and mostly sheetrocked (ran out and still need three more sheets. Still have to finish the sheetrocking, tape/texture/paint. And do the final electrical. The boxes are all there with romex but no outlest etc.

Sheetrocking has been a major PITA as the floor and ceiling are not level, less than standard 8' 3/4" height and the outer wall is not plumb. Most pieces of rock had to be cut at an angle, many angled on two or three sides to create a very odd shape. Even my own walls were a pain as the floor slopes and I wanted to keep a papered edge down and parallel to the floor. meaning the ends had to be cut so they matched the plumb studs. And of course since I made it all 16" on center, since the ends had to be cut, the sheets would not span 8 feet so lots of small scraps. Ah well, I still like the way it's turning out, just more work than I anticipated.

My only other experience with installing sheetrock was a newbuild shop (one rectangular room with two doors, one window and a drop ladder attic access) where all the walls, floor and ceiling were reasonably plumb and square and the walls were standard height so was mostly full, uncut, sheets and square fillers - piece of cake!!!

it always turns out to be more work than expected, and always takes way longer too.

yeah sheet rock shouldnt be that bad to hang but i fully understand what your facing when it comes to remodeling on bad framing lol nightmare!!!

but it sounds like you have everything all planned and figured out deffinatly keep us posted with progress and dont be shy with pictures either
