I was wondering if anyone breeds their males to more than one female per season? Anyone have any luck? Anyone have bad or no results?
Thanks,
Mat

I've bred males to two different females in one season. I think the important factor is to make positively sure that your boy is healthy as can be before trying it.
In 2006, I had a het anery male breed two females. I put him in with a big normal girl in November. He knocked her up by Jan./Feb. or so (she had about 30 healthy babies w/ 1 or 2 slugs), at which point I fed him a meal. Then I had an anery female ready with no other boy wanting to breed her, so I put the het anery male in with her and he bred her like a champ and got her gravid (she had 18 babies: 12 anery + 6 normal).
In 2007, I bred a big normal boy to two other different females. One female (the first I put this boy in with) had a bad premie litter, which I think was caused because of my stupid mistake in taking the male out too early. The 2nd female had a litter of about 22 HUGE babies.
So again, it is very possible to breed a male multiple times in a season, but I'd advise to be very careful and again make certain that he is healthy enough to expend all that breeding energy.
Hope this helps.

Jay gives good advive, its easily possible but he must be healthy, I've heard of males breeding to death.

My Salmon DH appears to have been successful with 2 ladies at once this season. He even spread himself around evenly to both girls.

Well see if He was successful pretty soon.
Well it looks like both of those girls took, and I would consider yourself lucky, because putting both females in with the male will just as easily cause neither girl to become gravid. The preferred way is to pair up the two that you most want to breed, and once she ovulates, give him a break, and a meal or two, and then try the next girl.
Yes a male ,in good condition, can breed two females, but I haven't legitimately heard of anymore than that. They're not Ball Pythons, and I think that if you want to breed more, you should get more males, for their sakes. Males will breed themselves to death.

I can live with lucky.
It's all part of the learning.
Thanks!
I'll bet you can. Nice job, and good luck on two healthy litters.
