calicos

brick1 Mar 21, 2008 03:07 PM

sorry for the 2nd post, put in ball morphs originally, but then saw there is only like 1 post a month, so im guessing not many people look there

calico x calico, what are the results? Will the whole clutch end up as calicos, but does it take a few years to age see the white coming thru?

same question for het calico x het calico?

be great to hear some thoughts
cheers
dave

It takes a while for the white to develop, but not a few years. Calico and calico will get 2/3 calico give or take, I think. There is no such thing as het calico.

ok, so if not het, what is the result of a calico x normal?

sorry maybe pretty basic questions, but quite new to all the genetics, and just trying to get some of them around my head.

i think i have seen het for calico in retics though, is it different there?

mikebell Mar 21, 2008 03:34 PM

Retics are different. Calico & normal is 50% calico. Calico is the same as spider or pin. There is no super form of any of these.

Calicos are proven dominant thus far. A Calico x normal breeding will give you 50% Calicos. 2 Calicos, 1 normal and 1 combo when bred to a Dom-Codom. There has been no super made that we know of...
