Can someone explain in detail how exactly to upload pictures to a website? I see Dave has 1,200 pictures posted on the previous 5 threads- so maybe you can help me Dave? I not too advanced when it comes to computers. In fact, if you take a close look at the "evolution chart"; I'm the the guy in the middle. No I-pod either. I'm still amazed at how a fax machine works! I do have a digital camera (my wife thought I should get rid of my Polaroid)and have seen my wife use photoshop to download pictures of our daughter to Walmart for photo developing. I also know whick button to push on the digital camera to actully take the picture.

Any help or advice you folks could offer would be much appreciated...

Thank you,
John

You have to upload them on a website like photobucket and then you can copy and paste the image url onto your post. Hope this helps!!

Will I need to upload to a photoshop program first? Then to photobucket (www.photobucket.com?). Do I plug my phone into the computer and just upload to photobucket? Clearly I fall just short of a caveman and will need more details; steps 1-20.

Thank you for your advice,

Confused in New Jersey

PS- Not to sell myself too short, I can operate a cell phone and retreive messages as well....

i dont think you should need photo shop at all.

first thing you need to do is get the pictures from the camera onto the computer... this usually isnt hard but diff camera have diff software to do it with. i suggest having your wife show you that one.

once they are in make sure you know where they are saved to (you will need to know that for later)

then check out photobucket and set yourself up with an account, its a few easy steps and its free. i dont rember for sure but i think all you need is a user name and password and an email address

that done you can start uploading the pictures from you computer onto photobucket. follow the steps and you have to select each photo one at a time, this is where you need to remember where they where saved.

almost there yay!!

now we have a few pictures loaded, you want to open them (in your web browser through photobucket) and right click. a menu will pop up and scroll down to where it says Properties and click. this will open a little window, find where it says "location" or target location" or "image location" and it will give a URL that will look something like this

http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii160/saagbay/th_2.jpg

hight light that and hit Ctrl-C for copy (make sure you have the whole thing)

now back to kingsnake... under the post box there is a little link that says "(Tools and Toys)" open that and it will show you all kinds of cool stuff

to post your pic to need the image command and that looks like this [ img] (only without the spaces) and to end the image command to need to typ this [ /img] (again with out spaces)

so the whole thing looks like this with spaces so you can see

[ img]http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii160/saagbay/th_2.jpg[ /img]

and now to do it with out the spaces it looks like this

or even this

now i find all that easier if when there are two browser windows open at the same time, one on your kingsnake post and the other in you photobucket. that just makes it easy to switch back and forth for copying and pasting....

so thats how i do it, and i think just about everyone else in this forum does it that way to.

it might not be quite as easy as Geico, but i bet even a caveman can do it lol

Once you have your photobucket account set up and some pics loaded, it's really easy. Under each pic are several formats of the address including one that says "IMG code". All you have to do to post them here is click on that IMG code box and the address will automatically be copied into your copy/paste memory in your computer. go over to the kingsnake browser (multiple browsers open at same time is wonderful) and get your curser blinking where you want the pic, press and hold Ctrl then V to paste the contents of your copy/paste memory (Ctrl-C is the copy command, Ctrl-X is the cut command.

I find it useful to store all these addresses in a document so you can access them later for related posts. I use a spreadsheet program but any document program would work fine.

Thanks for your input guys (Stephen & Dave). While I haven't had the opportunity to take any pic's yet, at least I'll have an idea of how to go about it when I do have the time. Enjoy the holiday, I'll catch up with ya later.

Thanks again,

John
