a pewter question - lots of pics

xblackheart Mar 21, 2008 10:51 PM

is it normal for a pewter to have this much purple? I am not sure the camera does justice, but he has a purple undertone. Reminds me of my lavenders.

When I first got him

a few months later

And about a month ago (almost 1 year after I got him)

thanks for looking

Nice looking pewter, Misty. Definitely on the purple end of the spectrum. I'm crossing hypo lavendar X pewter to increase the purple-should be able to breed the first quadruple hets next season.

I'm not sure if that is in the normal spectrum for pewters but I do vaguely remeber reading somewhere that one sex or the other has a tendency of coloring more then is expected for the morph. I think it was in refference to the charcoal gene but I may be misremembering. I'd ask Don as I think that he was the one talking about it.

Sean.
