Het Lucy Black ?

Do het Leucistic Black Rats look lke normal black rats or not?

Yes, they look like normal black rats - leucistic is a simple recessive genetic triat.

That's true leucistic is simple recessive, although sometimes rusties are het. leucistic. There are certain strains of rusty out there where this is more so than in other strains. Some strains of rusties never throw a leucistic baby, some throw leucs every time two of the rusties are bred together, other strains throw a leuc once every few clutches. So, you can't look at a rusty and assume that it's leucistic!

I can't think of who it is, but one breeder sells all of his rusties as 66% poss. het. leucistic, simply because they're rusty, and 2/3 of his line of rusties are het. leucistic.

Sorry this didn't make it any easier on you! Seems like we say that a lot when we deal with obsoleta genetics, though . . .

the rusty was sold as 66% het. for leucy, and is a male. the leucy was sold as a 100% het for albino, and is a female.
