a couple of hookups

draybar Mar 22, 2008 09:03 AM

I'm starting this post with a few off topic pics but I wll bring it back on topic with a couple of my ghosts...

two of my bairdis hooked up
Sam and Rosie....whoo whoo

I had mentioned five little hatchling stinkpots in a previous post...check 'em out..and these are about 7 months old!!!

and to bring it back on topic..Jacob and Lacy...two ghosts
I didn't actually catch them hooked up but if you look closely you can see Jacob has a good hold on Lacy so she can't get away.
can anyone say rape?? ..LOL

I've never had much trouble with musk turtles actually musking.
As my post below indicates I think softshells are much worse....lol
Waters in your area must be getting polluted. Snappers can take worse conditions then most species.

Jimmy,

Nice. I'm getting my first Baird's in a couple of weeks. I've always wanted to work with those. Is this your first year breeding them?

There ain't nothing cuter than a baby turtle - I haven't seen a baby stinkpot in years, but I did find this baby softshell a couple Summers ago.

Hey Tim,
I'm sure you know by now how much I like bairdis. I think you will definitely enjoy them.
That's a cool little softshell. I've had a few of those over the years. A lot of people don't realize they can musk like stinkpots. Hell, actually worse if you ask me.
here's an old shot of a softshell I had

and a shot of my other bairdi pair...didn't actually see them hook up but I did see signs in the box that makes me think they may have. I will keep putting them together until I am sure.
This is kind of my third season breeding bairdis.
The first season they each produced seven eggs.
Like an idiot I dropped one of the containers of eggs and killed Laura's. Then last season that just refused to hook up.
I brumated them for twelve weeks same as the season before but no luck. This season looks like we will be back on track.

and to keep it on topic here is a shot of one of my motley creams with a cream possibly het motley.
Should find out if she is.

Hey Jimmy - Congrats on the rats' hookup. My Bairds are just a little too small this year, but will go next. Oh, by the way, did I mention what I named them? "Jimmy" for the male and "Draybar" for the female! lol. I figure its fitting since it was after seeing your snakes and hearing you talk about them, that made me want them.
