I'm in big trouble

SBShortie Aug 28, 2003 08:51 PM

So I really need to get my stuff together and get Bam Bam and Pebbles out of their 10 gallon cage. I have a 20 gallon long tank which I could easily move them into and I also have a 40 gallon tank. I know the 40 gallon tank is better for them but before I put them in it I really want to know about sand a bit better and I also need to come up with a way to get them elevated up to the heat lamp. I'm hesistant to put in sand because of the impaction problems Jo had. But the more I read here the more it seems like I am the only person who uses paper towels. As far as elevating them up to the heat, I'm not sure how to go about it because Jo had a rock pile that he went up on but Bam Bam and Pebbles are so hyper that I think they will knock it over and possibly get injured. Do you guys have any words of wisdom for me?

Thanks
Becca

yournot the only peron to use paper towels, Almsot every time ive had a young lizard, frog, or snake, ive used brown paper towels as a substrate until they were big enough that sand or bed a beast wouldnt cause impaction. If your bam bam and pebbles are adults, then you can move them over to sand no problem, If they are still little, you may be hesitant, but its still safe, providing you use sand and not gravel (Fishtank gravel, very bad for anythign except fish).
as for the rock pile, if your worried about it falling, build it out of bricks, stacked in a way there they cant fall over, or silicon slate together until its stable, or, get lots and lots of sand and make a slope that leads to a rock for basking. or invade the local bath and beauty store and get the bathroom soap dish holders, which can be glued, or taped, or screwd in (in a wood cage) or velcroed to a wall under the basking light. (ive used this method alot myself, especially in glass tanks).
ive rambled on for a bit now, but thats what happoens when i dont post for a while, i just dont stop typing, and my spelling gets worse and worse. But anyway, Lizards are good.
