Tube feeding catheter

Upscale Mar 22, 2008 01:40 PM

Anybody have a source for feeding tubes? I’m looking for a type to tube feed a snake with a syringe. Can be luer slip or lock. I have used aquarium tubing, but I would like to get a “real” catheter tube. Searching online is frustrating- there’s a lot of kinds and few or none of what I’m looking for. Simple, sterile or not, most basic thing, or so I thought…
Any ideas?

Search google for a red rubber catheter. The size you need will depend on the animals you are using it on.

Thank you! I found the red rubber type at a place called “Chris's Squirrels & More” as a tool used in rehabilitation. Amazing, sized down to 3.5 Fr! They have the slip tube syringes too. I had been using a syringe that was sold as a turkey flavor injector with aquarium air line tubing slipped onto the needle! It did work…
Here’s a link if anybody else is interested.
Thanks again.

lol, I just call them urinary cathetors 'cuz that's how they are usually used. Of course I use them to tube feed as well. You probably will find that the 3.5F will be useless in most applications. It's mighty hard to push through something so small. It would be okay for electrolyte solutions though.

oh, and it might be cheaper to pick them up at your local vet clinic. No shipping, and they'll probably have all the sizes.
