I have just been starting to get eggs from some other snakes this year but this is my first year breeding my w hogs. After being with a male she got rather bulky and then went through a shed. She also got very cranky, unlike her normal self. I put a nest box in with each and she got very active, which I know can be normal for a snake looking for a place to lay. Out of curiosity, I put a dead mouse in and it was immediately eaten. Now I am rather concerned that she wasn't gravid after all. Have any of you had females that were gravid and never quit eating?

Most of my gravid females eat ravenously almost up to the day of egg laying.

I agree with Brad and Jenea. I currently have a female that looks like she could pop at any minute but she still finds room everytime I offer food.

Sometimes it's easier to tell when they are gravid because they even seem more voracious then usual...I know that I have seen a few water dishes be chewed on. Just another reason to love hognoses.
