Can someone please explain to me the genetics behind the lava corn and what makes a lava a lava?

Thanks,

lava is a simple recessive gene.
A corn snake is a lava if it had two copies of that gene (homozygous).

Lava is a type of hypomelanism. I think it first popped out of Okeetee lines but I'm not positive.
