My king wont eat rat weanlings ?

Bianca Mar 23, 2008 03:57 AM

Hi
My king (4 feet) eats 2 large mice a week. More or less except when about to shed and few days after he sheds .
I am trying to get him on rat weanlings but he wont touch them thus I give them to a smaller corn (3 feet).
The mice are thawed same as rat weanling. I would like to get him on rat weanlings as its easier just to give everyone the bigger rat weanlings .
Why wont he take the rats they are just slightlier bigger than mouse and packed, thawed same way?

Any ideas ? I prefer just to order rat weanlings from now on.

Thanks

Some kings are funny that way.
I've got one that for the longest time only ate fuzzies, and I'm raising one (his daughter) big enough for adult mice that only eats fuzzies. His other daughter that I have eats whatever I throw at her.

I know its strange .

It just sounds like he simply wants mice and not rats. I have an adult grayband that didn't want to eat rats from my friend that I purchased him from and only wanted mice. That's fine, as I order both.

In actuality, your situation is not that bad, as at least he wants to eat adult mice. Better that than only wanting live and not frozen as well. I have another friend whose adult grayband REFUSES to eat anything but small fuzzy mice.

Take care!!!

Maybe he doesn't like the taste/smell. I would imagine they're quite different to a snake. ^_^

Yes he seems not to someone told me to rub a mouse over the rat and to store the mouse in same ziploc bad as the weanling than let them thaw together to see if that helps.
