breeding question HELP

mootish Mar 23, 2008 07:31 AM

LAST week i came to notice one of my small beared dragons daisy had these wierd objects in her cage
they turned out to be unfirtle eggs just like a yokeish yellow colour i had no clue she was even pregant.
she layed 19 of these things all together and shes only about 12 inches long and not sure of her grams i would say 400 grams ? but shes skinny a bit so i been giving her water and feeding her crickets with calcuim to help built her weight up but i still think she has some eggs in her....
and i have a nother beared dragon now that we know is pregant and is scratching at her cage. im going to go to the store and get like dirt and place it in the tub and put screening on it and a basking lamp on it. any ideas ?
anything is helpful . thanks all

Even infertile eggs should be white. It is most likely that she is calcium deficient causing the eggs to be improperly shelled. You need to address this issue. You should be dusting every live meal with calcium but one a week that you dust with a multivitamin. I'd recommend Rep-Cal brand for both. The calcium should be with D3 and no Phosphorus.

She is only 12" long total length and 400 grams? Something isn't right here unless she is missing part of her tail.

Your nest box idea is fine. I've changed to all wet play sand now. Just be sure whatever you use is warm and damp enough to make a tunnel but not soaking wet.

I've had dragons lay eggs at less than 250 which is not ideal but happens. I rehab for an animal hospital and in December took in a dragon that had laid eggs and was only 170. I treated her for parasites and returned her to her owner at 240 grams. She had severe MBD when she was young and her growth was stunted.

sorry she is 13 1/2 inches and is 239 grams
I did not have my book at the time so i made a huge like mistake at guessing
I give her greens and calcuim with every feeding right now anyway sence she layed eggs.
I am currently giving her water and giving her a 20 mintue soak everyday
im not sure if she has more in her becuase this is new to me ( i new it was coming ) ..
thanks for your input

It's sad, the people really love her but just didn't know how to care for her as a baby. I returned her with an excellent new cage that has perfect conditions. I also sent along a superworm colony and instructions. lol.

it was infront of a pet shop.. kinda like they were going to throw her away or they did not see her and threw her away by accident me and my mom were buying crickets and just happened to notice her i really think we saved her life becuase it was really cold that day and she most likley would of fell a sleep and never woke up
I live in Allentown Pa about 30 mintues away from the hmaburg show
