I would say that it is pretty unpredictable. Assuming that you are not talking about either simple recessive or dominant traits and are just talking about pattern, light, dark, etc., I've had the entire spectrum when breeding two snakes that have color or pattern differences. The first snake pictured is a daughter of the second and granddaughter of the third. It has a littermate that looks very much like the grandmother, while it looks nothing like it at all. It can make selective breeding fun and frustrating at the same time.
