Gravid Boa Question!

reptilicus81 Mar 23, 2008 12:45 PM

Happy Easter!

This is my first year breeding bci, and I have some questions. I am a ball python girl mainly, so I am very used to timing my egg layers. I didn't record the date of my bci's last shed, and so counting 145 days from the last noticed copulation brings her estimated due date to around the second week of April. She has developed a very pronounced back bone in the last few days, and I was curious if any one can determine by the pictures if they believe my timeline is sort of accurate

Man the males have it easy! The daddy is buying his time begging for food!

It's tuff to tell if a boa is gravid when there right in front of your face, imagine how hard it would be from a pic. LOL
Good luck with her, that pic almost looks like an ovulation, I hope someone can help.
Again good luck!

Haha! I know this boa is gravid, maybe I should rephrase my question... I was just curious if the protruding spine was something that signaled parturition is approaching. I know that it signals egg laying is near in ball pythons.

One of my Boas is due in about 3 or 4 weeks (> April 15th ) and looks kinda like that.
