of some general guidelines or starting points for breeding pythons, namely Burms or Retics? I am considering breeding one or both of these, small scale at first if at all.I have kept these guys as healthy pets successfully for a little over ten years. I have often considered it,but didn't want to until now fro lack of time or space.I have finally finished my degree program at school and we
have recently bought our first house,so no more landlord to.....you know.I have a dedicated space for them and have the means to buy or build (preferably build) larger/different enclosures if needed.Any personal experience or tips or links to articles/websites or even title/authors of books on the subject would be a great help.I've looked at a few on the net and at various pet stores and book stores, but would like to avoid any bum info if possible.Thanx in advance for any ideas/help!

I'd say go towards something smaller like carpets, much more marketable in my opinion.

A good place to start is "The Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas" by Ross.

And stick with the species that interest you most. That's the most important thing. That way, you'll never lose the passion!

I think they're beautiful animals, but I'm not comfortable dealing with a snake that big, so I'll never own one, whereas I someday may have a carpet python or a rainbow boa or something similar, size-wise. Be sure that people are knowledgeable about, comfortable with, and have the space for them before you sell.

Too many people buy those big snakes either not knowing how big they'll get or thinking they can get rid of them somehow when they get too big for them to handle. I'm sure many pet stores irresponsibly sell them without fully informing people, too. Don't contribute to the problem.

Duh, that was supposed to say '+1'

Stupid forum treating the plus character as whitespace unless you use the html character code for it.
