Egg laying?

Louie1 Mar 23, 2008 07:01 PM

One of my females is currently laying her first clutch of the season!! Woo Hoo! I noticed what appears to be the remains of an egg that might have bursted inside her. I see what appears to be the shell and lots of fluid. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
-----

I have two friends who have experienced this with individual animals in their collections. On one occasion a friend told me the entire clutch had burst. A dozen eggs or more. However, I have no clue as to what this would cause this, perhaps a calcium deficiency in the shelling process. The eggs probably gain a few grams in weight from the pre-egg laying shed to the point when they are laid. I would like to hear from others who have had this happen, and curious to hear wha they think it might be attributed to.

Thanks,
J. Clayton
