Since everyone is having baby fever.....

Bighurt Mar 23, 2008 08:07 PM

...I just want to smile because I actually have room for the wee ones.

My new Reptile Room...

When I started it was a semi unfinished basement, with painted concrete walls. The rest of the basement has yet to be finished but at least I've started.

The room will share my 2 hobbies for now, Reptiles and LEGO's...

I'm bettin' my new stack of AP's will look good in here.

Happy Easter!

Jeremy

Looking good!
I finished a room in my basement too, the basement is good because it stays pretty cool which leaves temp control completely up to you no matter the time of year. My basement is alway's 60-65 winter spring summer and fall.
The window helps for natrul light too, I have no artificial light in my room, so mother nature supplies the long days and short nights in the off season and vice-versa during breeding season.

Oh all right, seeing as you have that cute little monster holding you back... I'm working on my own new room, no little monster holding me back and still taking a while...ugh, working with garage framing, not square, not plumb, uneven spacing, substandard height, floor and rafters slope in different directions. Got the sheetrock hung, wow was that tough!! Every piece cut on at least two sides, most on three!! Almost all the cuts had to be intentionally not square. LOL, had to buy two more sheets since so much was wasted by cutting.

Dave I'm curious you creating a new subfloor to counter the existing pitch in your garage floor?Or are you just going to work with what have there? I'm sorry I can't help but be curious about little construction projects.Good luck with it.I hate cutting and hanging sheet rock.Whenever I would do side job I always would sub that out. That's how much I hate it,LOL.Lar M

It's not a major slope, enough to mess with the sheet rock but not enough to mess with caging water bowls etc. Plus the rooms already under 8' and a subfloor would make it even shorter. So, just gonna live with it.

I like hanging Drywall, its finishing that I don't like. I like texturing but taping mudding, sanding, man thats a tedious task that takes for ever.

In your case I may or may not appriciate hanging drywall, in my case I instaled the studs so they were plumb...

Cheers and Good Luck Dave....

In my case studs have always been 16 inch on center, and always crowned. So you don't get that wavy look in your wall.Walls always end up plumb,if you've gota good bubble!Just do not enjoy drywalling or shingles.LOL That picture of your room looked great.First thing I noticed was the trim missing on the door. You said that's tonights work right,Have fun.Hanging and triming doors now that's fun for me!LOL,Lar M
