I am thinking of using cypress mulch for my BP's. It hold moisture better and doesn't seem to mold as easily.
Do any of you use this?
And should I bake it? If I should bake it how long and at what temp??
Thanks in Advance

I've used it before and liked it.
If you're worried about bugs just spray it with P.O.M. - but, I never treated my mulch and didn't have a problem.

We use it on all our balls, boas, and rainbow boas, and love it.
It is the best substrate you can get.
We treat it with prevent-a-mite when we fill the box with it as we do with any bedding as a preventative. It works great and is cheap too.

i was looking at this stuff yesterday....
There are 4 different colored bags...
Dark Green
Light Green
Orange
Red
All say cypress mulch--- I saw the others, like cedar (NO!NO!), and eucalyptus, several others....
Which color bag do you use?

Being in Maine it is hard to get cypress, the only place we can get it is from Ace Hardware.
They only have 1 type. The best brand that I know of is Kamlar Cypress mulch and play ground cover, if you can get that its perfect.
Not sure what the different bag colors are for, might be single milled, double milled, 3x, etc?

The bad thing about the Kalamar is it seems to carry mites. I used it for a few years but just cant stand battling the mites every few months so I just switched back to aspen about 8 months ago.

Good to know, I have never used it but have seen a lot of breeders down south use it and it was perfectly milled for balls. Not worth the mite battle though.
