Signs of Stress

aalomon Mar 24, 2008 11:48 AM

Well I finally broke down and bought a gtp. Id been planning this for a while, had done some research and so far everything is going great. He/she is eating fine, great coils and shed well. I was thinking though, as I was reading about gtp's Ive heard a lot about "signs of stress". What are they in a gtp? My other snakes show different signs if they stress (the ball stops eating but stays calm while the retic keeps eating but turns into a nightmare) and I was wondering what these guys do? I want to be able to see and correct and stressors as quickly as possible if they occur. Thanks!

This really depends on the individual chondro and they can stress in very different ways. Some may choose the ground to a perch when stressed, while some may just prefer the ground at times as normal behavior. You just have to get to know the animal. Any chondro that does not feed normally, can be stressed. The exception would be males during winter months and females that are gravid. Pay attention and you'll see what the signs are.....if there are any. In my opinion, it's hard to stress a well-established chondro.

Good luck.
