Are there Yellow Tree Monitors? (Not V.

zhughes Mar 24, 2008 05:48 PM

Is anyone aware of a yellow tree monitors in the V. prasinus complex? Not the V. melinus which for some reason has been coined "yellow tree..." Is there a morph that comes from one geographic area that is either yellow or high yellow/green. Also the "aqua" coloured green tree's. Does anyone know whether they are caught in the same area as "normal" greens or do they have an isolated spot they come from? Thank you.

I have seen pics of kordensis that have looked verry yellow but as for a true yellow tree monitor I dont believe so. As for prasinus mine started green and turned a bluish color. This seems to be normal from what others have told me. Thanks Ian

I don't mean to offer a contradictory response, but there is a species in the Varanus prasinus complex which is regularly referred to as the Yellow tree monitor, Varanus reisingeri.
For a wealth of information on this complex, including reisingeri, I would suggest you check out www.treemonitors.com
