Here is mine, its an old Coke machine. Works like a charm. Yours is very nice. I didnt even think about stacking tubs. Thats a good idea.

here's my incubator, a wine cooler with a helix, a computer fan thats always on and a bunch of water bottles. A brinsea thermometer to see how the helix is doing. (they match) Still waiting for my first clutch to be laid.

Rob Lewis Mar 25, 2008 12:39 PM

...did you have to add a heating element of some sort (if so what)? I did not see anything in the picture and would not have guessed that you could get a wine cooler that warm without modification. Just curious as that looks like a cool incubator. Thanks.

Rob

The Helix is hooked up to a piece of flexwatt on the back wall and the water bottles are wrapped with a 50 watt heat cable. I have three females that I hope will become gravid. Two normals that are breeding with my spider male. And a bumblee that is breeding with a pastel.I hope the python gods are smiling on me.

Rob Lewis Mar 26, 2008 01:46 PM

...now that you say that, I can see the heat cable around the bottles. Need to work on my observation skills I guess! Thanks again.

you guys should put insulation on part of your doors so that heat loss will be lowered--if do part can still see in. just a thought

I dont loose any heat unless i leave the door open for a couple min. Thats part of what the water bottles help do.

KMS Mar 25, 2008 03:49 PM

It's insulated glass so the heat loss in minimal..Thanks for the idea though.

I have never bred Balls but why can't momma take care of the eggs herself in a "nestbox" in her own cage? Sorry if it is a stupid question just curious.

Coldthumb Mar 25, 2008 07:51 PM

It's just easier to regulate the temperature and humidity more accurately with an incubator.
Plus...The mom will go back to eating right after you take them away from her..Versus fasting until they hatch.

Right on, I knew there had to be a good answer. I just figured mother nature has been doing this for alot longer than us so why all the effort. Thanks for the reply.

Here is the first one I used for the first 2 years it only holds 2 clutches at a time. Its a small fridge that I cut the front out of and sealed with plexigless to be able to see inside. I have since sold this one.

The I bought this one from a small carry-out that I deliver to (Im a beer and alcohol delivery guy) and just added a small heat bulb this one holds 5 max clutches and used this one in 05/06 season and held it back Im hoping I need to use it this year with my bigger one.

And here my biggest one I used this last season this one holds about 18 clutches I also bought this from a drive-thru / carry-out it was broke and wasnt cooling so they were going to throw it out and I bought it for 50bucks.

Thanks for looking

black case to the left of the incubator??
I was thinking a guitar, but it looks more like a rifle case.
Maybe protection against egg thieves????????

about your largest. If they were going to "throw it out", why did you have to pay $50.00?

dmasio13 Mar 28, 2008 10:22 PM

Because I have asked other places before if they were just going to throw it out can I just take it off their hands and they have told me no so I just offered some money for this one.

Mine is also made from a wine cooler. Although the pic is outdated, it is currently cooking up my first clutch of the season.
