Breeding WC Cal Kings

... w/out brumation? Just testing the experience against what I've heard. I heard that WC Cal Kings won't breed w/out being brumated. Has anyone had experiences to the contrary?

My male from Antioch, CA bred without being properly brumated in 2006. To save money I keep my house thermostat fairly low in winter, but he still was not "properly" brumated.
