Blackhawk44 here. nuisance animal trapper,40 yrs steelmaking, hiker(was)boater and father of 6. 78yrs old.
I have an albino sand boa. rescued from an animal call in north canton ohio last year, july. he/she has doubled in size, weight etc. eats frozen pinks, started one a wk,then up to two every three days. hit pinks thawed in bag at very warm and served at body temp with great force and consrricts well. jaw flex super, no more regurgitation, regular molting. name is murphy. beautiful scales and only a few black specs. I am getting 200 hopper tommorow. two pinks 2x19 38cents one hopper 29 cents. so if I can get murphy to eat 1 hopper at 8 to 12gr thats equal to two pink fuzzies at 5gr each. hope the jaw flex can handle it. if not I will go back to fuzzies and give the hoppers to our rehab people at sippo lake. I am not a real herp smart guy but my experience is: temp 88 to 98 degrees f. humid 28. 2hrs of light a day with a hooch(black sock on a tranlucent plastic water bottle for murphys personal like feeding or temp. got a magnetic rock(half inside cage/half on outside he likes to go in when he wants temp/hum adjustment) water dish refilled daily just deep enough to cover boa. I have only seen boa drink twice. use cedar chip(large quarter size) hang paper towels over water dish and dampen for hum control. always hold food couple inches over head (with soft plastic forceps) boa strikes really hard on food so if overshoot dont hurt mouth or teeth. boa is maybe to fat. guy who lost him from chico california(rons reptiles) is on tv. says breeding female(murphy has two hellish big spurs so I think male) will cost about 300 to keep albino genes a runnin. always feed same place, just set 2nd mouse on a small platform to keep chip from being swallowed. Good luck out there. BLACKHAWK 44. go with God.
