If you go with a cbb western hog odds are it will be eating mice already, but if not, simply rubbing a mouse on a toad usually works. The ones I dont hibernate continue to eat through the winter. An inclosure size of about 24"L X 16"W X 5"H works, and is the smallest I would use. I try to keep my westerns at about 82f with a hot spot in the low 90s. All my hogs get a water dish big enough to get into, even though they never do, but I figure that way they can always find it. Thier average sizes are 15"-30" with males being the smaller ones. As far as thier personalities go, it all depends on the hog, about half of mine are calm and the other half of them hate me. I've never had one bite me as a defence though, they just hiss at me and thrash a bit. I hope this helps a little.

Please visit this website. It has some pretty comprehensive information regarding all the various species of hognose snake. The care sheets are a good place for getting the basic husbandry requirements setup properly.

Good luck and happy hunting!
