Egg Question......

lgehrig4 Mar 25, 2008 08:08 PM

I bought my son a pair of Leopards last January and the female just laid two eggs this past weekend. I currently have them incubating in vermiculite, but I noticed in his LG book that I was supposed to mark them so that I can keep the end up as they were left by the female. How important is this? I understand that they could drown in their own fluid as they develop, but is this common? Have I ruined these eggs?

Thanks!
Jeff

Well, did you turn them significantly? ie-flipped them over
and two- how long after they were laid did you do the flipping or rolling or whatever? If within a few hours, you are probably OK, as the embryo woud not have attached yet. I asked the same question when one of my females kept violently kicking her eggs, like a couple inches and several flips, during the laying and burying process. That's the answer I got. In any case, keep them cooking until they either hatch or go moldy and collapse. You never know!

They were handled gently, but did their share of turning since I was not even thinking about that. I do think I noticed them within a few hrs of being laid though.

Thanks for the response
