I need advice!

manda_jizzle Mar 25, 2008 10:34 PM

Alright, so I have had a male corn for the past 5 years. This morning when I woke up, I looked at him and he was having a muscel spasm in one section of his body. Only about 2 inches of him (he's 4 feet long) were doing it, but it still really freaked me out because I have never seen him do anything like that before. I googled it and came up with another forum where a guy said his corn snake had died shortly after having muscel spasms. I'm really concered and would really appreciate if someone could tell me what's going on or if there is anything I can do or even if it's nothing at all. Thank you,
-Manda Jane

Do you have other snakes (female) ones near him? And can you describe muscle spasam better? When snakes are looking to breed they sometimes twitch and it looks like their scales are going through muscle contractions. Also how is the snake acting now?

No, there arent any other snakes around him. But that IS what the spasm looks like. Sort of a twitching... He is acting completely fine. I just fed him, he ate right away, he's been slithering around, letting me handle him, acting normal. Also, that one time was the only time I saw him do that.

When in doubt take the individual to the vet. My Corn enclosures are all together and mine do not display breeding behaver when they see each other, only when they are put together to breed. You sound like you care so take it to the vet ASAP and let us know what the vet says

I will be sure to get back at you with what happens. Thank you.

Please take your snake to the vet.

Forums are a great way to learn new things, but are not a substitute to seeing your vet.

Good luck, to you and the snake.

Peace,

Your snake looks just like my snake. I was planning on taking him to the vet, but was just wondering if someone could give me some quick advice before I made it there. Thank you.
