Its rare with dragons but it has happened before...none have thrived past a year to my knowledge. Though curious and may thrive, in the long run though they do die.

My recommendation, for the animal's sake is to humanely euthanasias them. You could always preserve it for display or study...

Bad. People that pass judgement. I would never inbreed, but had a deformed dragon last year anyway. His name is Kaden (means Strength) and he is one of my favorites.

i've only heard of siamese twin beardies like that happening due to inbreeding. might not necessarily be that person that posted's fault, but might be the bad genes from the inbreeding that happened back in the family line. my comment was not meant in a way agaisnt the person who posted... just in general that inbreeding is BAD> If male lizard "A" is a product of inbreeding it won't have a good diversified gene pool. Then if male "A" mates with a female "B", say that she had been an inbred offspring as well, then their offspring (AxB)might be messed up. HEalthiest animals, humans, etc. are due to the diversification of genes. Thats what I was taught in high school. just my understanding of the problem. I also would NEVER inbreed my beardies!!

This mutation is not from inbreeding. Diplopagus twins are not a product of inbreeding. Do some basic research.

Two contradicting theories exist to explain the origins of conjoined twins. The older and most generally accepted theory is fission, in which the fertilized egg splits partially. The second theory is fusion, in which a fertilized egg completely separates, but stem cells (which search for similar cells) find like-stem cells on the other twin and fuse the twins together.

Most people really have no idea of the effects of inbreeding/line breeding. I'm not recommending inbreeding your beardies, as I have not kept them very long term. If done properly and very selectivly it can and does increase the health of a population in most animals that it has been PROPERLY applied. Its done everyday in race horses, cattle, performance and show dogs. Inbreeeding and line breeding does not "create" bad genes. It expresses bad genes that are already there. Over generations of line/inbreeding and outcrossing, and selective culling (removing bad genes from the gene pool), the health of a population will increase. The problem is most people do not selectivly cull the population and can not maintain a large enough population to do this. It involves keeping an animal through most of it adulthood prior to breeding to determine its genetic health, or specific trait that you are breeding for, or trying to eliminate.

I apoligize if I came off snappy, was not my intention at all. If I offended any one again I apoligize. I just hear alot of people on forums, talking about the woes of inbreeding/line breeding, with very little research or knowledge on the subject and seemed an appropriate place to add a little content on the subject. It was directed at no one person in general. As fas as what I do..... I am a tattoo artist/shop owner. I have a very limited working knowledge of Bearded Dragons, and reptiles in general. My experiance is primarily with mammals, Patogonian Cavies, Canadian Lynx and Homo Sapian Minimus. (My bad azz kids)Dean
