How many beardies in one habitat

timd35 Mar 26, 2008 07:09 PM

Howdy!

How many beardies can you keep in a habitat? Also, how old should they be before you breed them?

Thanks!

Tim

How many certainly depends on the size of the habitat. My vet has a group of 5 and a group of 4. I'd wait at least a year to breed them if the option is yours. A weight of 350 would be Ok but better to be 450. I've had them become gravid at 8 months and only 250 before though with no problems.

Thanks BD...how big are your vets enclosures?

Not big. Way less than I would recommend.

Not big...hmmm....a ten gallon aquarium is not big. Some may say a 55 gallon is not big....not trying to be smart, but do you by chance know how big is "not big"? Just trying to get an idea so if I do get a second one I make sure I have the right info to treat them both right.

Thanks!

I'd say the one with 5 is about 5' x 3'. The other is a tall screen cage. About 30" x 30" x 6' tall.

thanks! It does sound like the 5x3 is crowded. mine is about that big, so two should be ok in there I think.

Thanks again!

I have 3 girls in one of my 5' x 3.5' and they're fine together.
