Uromastyx has 2 fang like teeth...

africansnakes Mar 27, 2008 06:34 AM

Hi everyone

I have a qustion to which I found no real answers online.
My Uromastyx (U.princeps) has 2 longer teeth at the tip of its Jaw, Very much like many Agama species do.
Do all Uromastyx have these long front teeth (2 - 3 times longer than the other uniform teeth)?

I have not had other species of Uromastyx to compare with so I dont know.

Thanks allot.

yep, while young these teeth (incisors) will fuse up and become a sort of beak.

Actually I am talking about the lower jaw and about the 2 teeth all the way at the front tip of the jaw. Just like Agama atricollis and Agama Agama have them. Exactly the same.
Has anyone ever seen this in any other Uromastyx species ? I have looked at some greyi's from a friend and they dont seem to have it.

Thanks

OK, ALL uromastyx have teeth that are larger than the rest at the medial portion (front) of the jaw.
