As long as your not keeping anything that is listed by either state that is endangered or listed as a special concern then your ok. Permits are available for for snakes that the state has listed as endangered or special concern. But those permits are generaly hard to obtain by even the most serious herpetologist.
Now your local city/county may have some exotic animal laws that may apply in general to the keeping of anything venomous. Where I live in NC I'm lucky---no local laws to keep me from having venomous snakes.
