My new Leo

SugarFox03 Mar 27, 2008 07:43 AM

I picked this little guy up yesterday from my local Pet Supermarket. They actually take pretty good care of their reptiles there. Anyway, just thought I would show him off. I am pretty new to leos. The only other ones I have had were rescues and were very sick & impacted when I got them (years ago) so it's nice to finally have a healthy guy running around. He's going in for a fecal check next week and a well exam to make sure all is ok with him. What do you all think? He weighs 37.6 grams right now.

He looks great. What's with the eyes? He's obviously not a normal. The cat looks interested also

Thanks everyone! Yeah, the kitty (Fiji) is quite interested in him. There's weights on top of the tank lid and it's in a pretty difficult spot where he can't get to easily. I lost a crested gecko from a curious kitty a few years back, so I don't take any chances!

After getting a cat, my brother actually had to put up a curtain on his Brazilian Rainbow Boas' enclosure in order to get the cat to quit bothering the snakes - the snakes were significantly stressed by the cat's curiosity. I would imagine that an 8 inch gecko would be even more scared than a 5-6 foot snake, but I guess if the gecko doesn't look like it's stressing out, you *might* be ok. Good to know that you have a very secure lid on the tank, at least.
