fecal or just go ahead and worm her?

cee4 Mar 27, 2008 01:44 PM

The vet suggested I skip the fecal and just worm her(she is not a reptile vet).I think she mentioned ivermectin orally. For those that dont know the Argentine boa has regurged twice in the last 3mnths.I dont want to stress her with worm meds if she doesnt have them. Also what do you or your vets use for parasite meds( I need to be up on this so I can keep an eye on the vet)?

Ive been keeping a daily log of her temps(my digital thermometer was almost 5degrees off). These are for the last week.Do these temps sound okay or is the ambient too low?

The big three anti-parasite drugs are the two mentioned in the previous post with the addition of Droncit. Not only is Ivermectin fairly toxic, the first three above more effectively and more safely resolve infestations of the vast majority of reptile parasites.

I agree with that Kelly said about Ivermectin. I had to give that to my pit bull for her dry mange (tried orally but only a monthly injection of a very small amount worked) and it does heavy damage to the liver. Vet advised it would shorten my dog's lifespan, the stuff we got was made for cows and other large herd animals. Not fun stuff.

out for everything. You'd think it was great stuff the way they use it.Of course both vets are large animal vets too.Im surrounded by cattle.
She said she injected a really big snake once with ivermectin for parasites a while ago.I assume it was a burmese or retic.

Do NOT use Ivermectin.
Just make sure the snake has clean fresh water every day and leave her at 80F min to 90F max for 2 weeks. Then offer a small meal.
