Shrimp for box turtles?

bonomoc08 Mar 27, 2008 04:55 PM

My box turtles (eastern and ornate) are becoming more and more picky. They are eating dry dog food, crickets, nightcrawlers, the occasional grasshopper, some fruit, and feeder fish. Would boiled shrimp be okay to feed, or would it be too high in sodium?

Thanks in advance!

My aquatics get shrimp, so I will occasionally offer it to my box turtles. That, and crayfish tail meat. They love both, and I have seen no ill effects. Too much may be harmful, though, due to the salt and high cholesterol.
