quick genetic Q...

Afrock86 Mar 27, 2008 09:59 PM

I currently own a Anery boa het for Albino and Snow. Now from what i've obtained if i breed him w/ a snow i will produce some snows, but what if i breed him with a sunglow? Will i produce anything special or should i just hook him up w/ a snow to produce some albinos and snows and leave the sunglow for another project?

Yes the possabilities are there to produce a snow with the sunglow breeding. The other possabilities that may come from this breeding are normals dh for snow, hypos dh for snow, more sunglows poss het for snow, ghosts poss het for snow, moonglows, albino poss het snow, and anery poss het snow. Dont think I left anything out. I would go for it.

bensassaman Mar 28, 2008 12:35 AM

thought to fast, in order to produce what I listed the sunglow would also need to be het anery. So the ghost and moonglow and anery would not show up with this pairing. Sorry about that its late and I cant sleep.

bensassaman Mar 28, 2008 12:45 AM

Its way to late!! No snows with the sunglow pairing. The sunglow would have to be het for anery. So with your proposed pairing you would get normals dh for snow, hypos dh for snow, albinos het for anery, and sunglows het for anery.. I think I got it this time. My apologizes

First off, you wrote --"I currently own an Anery boa het for Albino and Snow"
-- An Anery that is het for Albino is the same as an Anery het for Snow.

Breeding an Anery het for Albino to a Snow (Albino/Anery) will potentially get you

- Snows
-Anerys 100%het for snows(albino)

----- on average, you should get more Anerys (2 to 1)than Snows. All the Albinos produced will be Snow.

Breeding an Anery het for Snow to a Sunglow (Hypo/Albino) will potentially get you

-Sunglows 100% het for Anery,(aka het Moonglow)
-Albinos 100% het for Anery (snow)
-Hypos 100% het for Albino and Anery (triple het/Moonglow)
-normals 100% het for Albino and Anery (double het/Snow)

I won't try to figure out the percentages.

To my knowledge this is correct, but could someone please confirm it, or correct me on this -- it's early and my brain isn't up to speed.

Okay sorry to jump this thread as I started one further down. But this is in line with some of my questions. I understand what I'll get if I breed the Anery het for albino to my albino, but what will result from Anery het for albino bred to an anery het for albino?

I tried to figure it out and this is what I got

25% albinos
25% Anerys
50% DH for Snow

am I close?

75% of the litter should be anery that are 66% possible het albino and the other 25% of the litter should be snows

LarM Mar 28, 2008 06:39 PM

I'm thinking Anery Het Albino X Anery Het Albino =
50% Anery (66%)het Albino
25% Albino het Anery
25% snow Boas

Anery Het Albino X Anery Het Albino

All the babies must be anery because both parents are anery.
25% of the babies are also albino making them snows.
The rest are also 66% het albino.
Result:
75% anery (66% probability het albino)
25% anery albino (snow)

Actual result to expect
1/2 Snows
1/2 Anerys 100% het for snows(albino)

>Breeding an Anery het for Snow to a Sunglow (Hypo/Albino) will potentially get you
>
>1/4 -Sunglows 100% het for Anery,(aka het Moonglow)

>1/4 -Hypos 100% het for Albino and Anery (triple het/Moonglow)
>1/4 -normals 100% het for Albino and Anery (double het/Snow)

Added the fractions to expect. As always, the actual results may vary somewhat from the expected result.
