Anyone culture earthworms?

Luis Mar 28, 2008 03:14 AM

Hello
Anyone culture earthworms?
I wanted to try culturing earthworms if nothing else atleast keeping them alive for months after I order them via internet.
I can keep bin in garage or outside in patio which is shaded (Florida). The worms are for summer fishing but need them alive not frozen as they come apart very fast that way.

Thanks

I go out in my backyard and find all i need, keep them in the styrafoam containers from the store for months and the turtle gets to enjoy them. You can see if there are any in your yard, take an extension cord, and splice the female end after cutting off the head, wrap each wire around the handle of forks and stick in ground, plug in and watch the worms crawl up. Make sure your ground is realllllyyy wet though. Have fun.

My friends dad always had his own earth worms. He built a huge box and put it in the ground, then filled it up with nice black dirt. He threw in some starter worms, and always threw the scraps out there every couple of days. He had a cover for it to keep birds out.

Just like the other guy said, you just stuck your hand in there and all kinds of worms came out. If you ask me his was a little over crowded they did so well.

But, he had some good bait!

My backyard is sand and palm trees but I have gotten worms from the area .

I am going to collect as many as possible this weekend and put them in a bin with soil . Hope they breed atleast keep them going for few months as garage is constantly shaded by trees thus not to warm .

Thank you both
