Clutch #2

Wallbanger26 Mar 28, 2008 12:09 PM

Well I woke up to this clutch. It's my 4 year old pastel girl and her first clutch. She was still on the small side, but 4 years old, she's getting bred. It could be from a spider cinny or lesser. I ran them all through. 5 eggs, but when I candled them only 3 had veins. I've never candled before this year, but it is correct to assume no veins, no good right? So 3 viable eggs. Oh well, 3 is better than 2.......... or none!

They all look good to me. It's best to wait a few days to let things start to develop before candling. I would try again in about a week and see what things look like then. Either way I would treat the eggs like their good and see what happens. I've had things hatch out of some pretty funny looking eggs before

I bet they are all fertile. They may just not have many veins yet. Non fertile eggs will have a bright yellow glow when candled. The fertlie ones should look pinkish.

Yeah, my first clutch had a perfect looking egg...... rolled out! I candled it and it had that yellow glow. The two in this clutch look the same. One has the one tiny hair sized vein,.

Good advice from the previous posters. I would have to agree; they look like good eggs at this point. I would definetly treat them like good viable eggs and see what develops.
