Going on vacation in a few minutes, just wanted to post this link that I saw on the Herp Law forum:

I know we like to joke around a lot in this forum, as well as discuss serious issues, but there may be nothing to discuss in a few years if we can't own any herps. Please note that on the video, the non-sensical USGS range map appeared on TV, and also note how the Florida senator wants to convince other senators of the Burmese python threat.

One irony is that in one of the videos, an alligator is actually eating the evil python that is going to take over 1/3 of the country! And a Burm eating a Florida panther?!?! Wow, talk about hysteria.

Anyway, please consider writing your congress person and senators on this.

Really what would be ideal is for some tv and radio time be bought and used to counteract his lies and fearmongering. Alternatively, and much cheeper, would be newspapers(pages or letters to editor) or fliers.

Either way the PR countermove has to be in his political ditrict so that he feels the consequences of lieing to the public. If he fears political backlash from his constituants or from a challenger for his seat then maybe he will stop this nonsense.

Hopefully some people in his neck of the woods will turn up the heat on him.
