RMCADguy Mar 28, 2008 08:01 PM

Hello all, I haven't posted in a long time in the chuck section, but I hope the be more frequent here like in the uro and beardie section.
I am posting a couple pictures of my chuckwallas, two granites that came from Nick Dokai.

Hope you like them!

They are beautiful!

They are adorable! Do their eyes change as they age or do they stay that almost grey blue?

Fantastic coloration! They almost look like Desert Iguanas. Do they darken up with age? Where are they from? Thanks for sharing these pictures.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Are those from the San Diego County area?

Thank you all for the kind words. The girl does look like a fat DI.

About the eye color, I do not have enough experience with them to say, NDokai would know, as he has worked with this particular local for many years now.

As far as I know the local is around San Diego, but it is my understanding that it is not as close as you might think, and this particular local is quite unique, but NDokai really knows the stuff about these guys.

thanks again everyone

Phil

The girl really is turning out to be quite nice. Her mother is very dark, but both light and dark colored animals can pop out of the same clutch, but it seems that the light females are more of the norm. Both sexes seem to be designed to blend in to the light cream colored granite rocks that make up the mountains that they are found in.
The eyes usually darken up as the animals get older, but even adults can show lighter greenish eyes.
This color variation of chuck can be found in several counties in socal, including S.D. I have never really looked into the full extent of their range. I'm glad that you decided to pick up some more chucks, Phil.
Take Care, everyone.
