I personally think a 20 gallon terarium is best for a 1-4 geckos. That gives plenty room for a hide pot on the cool side and the heat side, water dish and lots of room to run around.

What size tank are you using? Ideally the UTH should take up about a third of the floor space. UTHs are sized to a particular tank size. On the package it will say to use for 20 gallon, 50 gallon etc. When you go shopping just read the package.

I'd probably go with the 8x8 for a ten gallon tank.

The zoo med packaging recommends what I am guessing is similar to 4x5 size for a 10-20 gallon tank. That's what we have. I know, I've installed many. I think a bigger one is really needed for a 20, but my gecko doesn't seem to complain and her temps are fine.

But really, check out the pet store or the details on the website. (manufacturer's if necessary) You need to make sure you are getting the right wattage setting and size for your tank. It is all on the packaging in plain english.
