IT'S ABOUT TIME! CALICO X ...

kinderman Mar 29, 2008 07:52 PM

After 4 weeks of hiding in the corner and another 4 weeks courting -- my little Calico is all growed-up! I have been saving some girls for him. This, my prettiest Cinny, is one of them. He is 700 grams and she is around 1400. Happy Breeding!!!

If they end up looking half as cool as I think they will be... wow!

Do you have long term goals for this project? I'd really love to see a Super Cinny Calico (or a Super Black Pastel Calico)!

has yet to be determined. I hope to hatch 2-3 clutches of ButterxCinny's (I missed the 1st's ovulation, but I think she is due in three weeks --pic below). If I can hit that combo, I think that would be interesting, keeping in mind the Butter white super and the Cinny black super. Throw in the Calico and who knows how whacked-out that clutch could look.

I also have a clutch due next week that could throw the project in a different direction. I bred my Butter to a captive hatched girl who is as red as any ball I have seen. She dropped eight good eggs, and IF she is genetic, I would bet she is dominant. Odds say I should get 2 combos. But we all know how that goes. That combo mixed with the Cinny/Calico would be interesting. Maybe a pink ball python with fire engine red polka dots???!!!--or a white with pink spots, or a black with red and pink spots... That's the fun part about this mutation thing. You just never can KNOW what these genes will do together in a new "snake cocktail". I'll keep everyone posted. Should be interesting.

Beth,
Cinnabun had crossed my mind. As you surely know, most of the mainstream color names have taken. I actually took one of those 120 count crayon boxes I have in my classroom -- I actually do teach kindergarten -- and began asking my students whether they thought any of these were good snake names as we went about reading through the box. How weird is that????

P.S. They thought "Macaroni and Cheese" was the bomb!!! KIDS --Got to love them!!

Awsome! I love the Cinnabun idea--- Mac & Cheese sounds funny too--- who'd a thought a several thousand $ animal would be named after food....

So if you name them cinnabuns i get a discount on one right. lol

can't wait for pics to see what those come out as!!!

Damian, you did get the name right, and Brian did produce it. I suspect a Butter x Cinny would be similar in pattern. Might be lighter in color or more red tones. I hope I find out first! I will feel better when I have a few good eggs cooking.

You read my mind on the super cinnamon calico!...That designer combination could be wicked.
Patternless with splotches of white where the "alien heads" should be/?.If so they should call it the Cheshire ball.:D

A super cinny calico should be sweet if the genes don't do anything weird when combined.

Thanks everyone for the kind support. I know Jon Dvoritz is working on this one as well(my Calico is from him). Others are also I would imagine. It seems that the phrase "Don't count your eggs before their hatched" was tailor-made for the snake hobby. And in my case I still have to get my girl gravid! I'll keep you all updated.
