Vision Racks for Pits ???

Scottyzona Mar 29, 2008 08:12 PM

Hi Pit people, Is anyone using Vision racks for their pits? I am looking for opinions as to how well they work for various pituophis species. The V-70 (formerly CB-70) looks like it would be good but I'd like opinions on any vision rack before I go drop a bundle.

Thanks, Scott Potts....

I use them for my wc Trans Pecos bull/gopher intergrades, and they work great. I like the top ventilation, which eliminates the tedious job of drilling each tub. And the ease of setup, flexibility of heat placement, and PRICE are all second to none. I don't forsee using any other kind of rack in future.

Brad, I remember seeing your comments on their website. I was worried about ventilation but if your subocs are doing well then that answers that. Are you using the V-70's, if not, what model?

Yes the v-70. Great design, the cb-70 without all the ridges....

Hey Brad, I read through your post to quick with the Trans Pecos Bull/Gopher, my mistake. This one here is also a Bull/Gopher intergrade from Hwy 349 between 90 and Meyers Canyon. She needs a mate. Where are yours from?

Mine are from 90, about 4 miles west of Marathon.....Brewster County. They are eating like pigs now, so I should have some more babies this season.

Hey am I correct in assuming these are intergrades, Werler and Dixon's range map indicates so, but...

Some literature says yes, some say they are pure affinis. Judging by the variability that I've seen in the region, I'd say you don't get absolutely pure sonorans until west of Presidio county. I've seen animals that resembled pure bulls in Brewster and eastern Presidio, but also those that look like sonorans.

Joe Forks could speak to this far more authoritatively than I, however.

yep, I have seen tons over the years all over west texas and I would say they are right in the zone. Some will look more gopher and some more bull.
Even the ones in the Davis are intergrades.I think the zone is pretty large.I had a male for a while from west langtry and even it showed some sonoran.
Even the milks intergrade in the 349/sanderson area.

I love those with the maroon tails.

BTW I agree with both you and Shannon.
