OT: Zoo day! - LOTS of pics

Jonathan_Brady Mar 30, 2008 08:23 AM

My girlfriend and I checked out the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, FL yesterday. It's a pretty decent zoo. Not the best I've been to, but definitely enough animals and exhibits to keep you entertained. Because my girlfriend brought her camera, a LOT more pics were taken than normal. Hope you enjoy!

Unfortunately this was overexposed due to direct sunlight. No angle I tried eliminated it

I'll throw some more in a follow up thread...

A day at the zoo and no reptile pics LOL. I thought thats what all of us reptile keepers went for as soon as we entered a zoo 'The reptile house'. I love the otter photos those are one of my favorites.

What about this??

Actually, I'm with you. The first thing I asked my girlfriend when we received the map is: "where's the reptile house?" Her answer... there isn't one.
They did have a pair of African Rocks, but the lighting was HORRIBLE, AND, they were behind mesh wire so even if I had used flash, it would have just looked like a big reflective mess. :/

Still a great day. Feeling a giraffes tongue was wicked! It's like a cats tongue, only HUGE!

The Central Florida Zoological Park has a decent herp collection, one of the better ones in the state.

I agree completely. I've been to the CF Zoo 4 or 5 times. It's actually the reason I haven't made it to the Brevard Zoo! lol.
Their collection of herps, medium cats, and primates are pretty nice! Not a big fan of insects, but their insect house is cool too. Only drawback is the size of the park. But it's nice that I can drive there in about 30 minutes!
