Mega Ray vs. Repti Sun???

DarienD Mar 30, 2008 01:30 PM

I have been trying to find this out for a while. What is the best flourescent to use? I have used reptisun 5.0's and 10.0's, and I now use the Mega Ray bubs from reptileuv.com. So, what is the best to use? What are some good things about each one? I have used the Mega Ray bulbs for a little while now, and haven't noticed anything different with my dragons.

Who really knows which is better I guess. There's a lot of marketing hype out there. The one thing I like about the long flourescents is that they spread light and UVB over a much larger area of an enclosure. I guess it's less noticable for people with small enclosures but most of mine are 5' x 3.5' and they would be dark on the cool end without the UVB tubes.

I've been talking to a local breeder that has a few years experience and some nice stock about it. They really like the Mega Ray for heat, UVB, and longer lasting duration. They use them alone in smaller enclosures for young BDs, but use tubes in addition for larger enclosures.

Basically, what was just said : ) The MegaRay seems to be good for UVB output, but it's going to have limited coverage area.
