Hi all! I'm interested in your votes on which kind of blood python is friendliest.
I had a snake that was supposed to be a blood, but looked more like a short tail, but I'm not even sure that's what he was. It was a funky deal - I bought him because he wasn't doing well where he was, denied a hide, overstressed, upper respiratory because humidity was off, etc. I think it was just too much for him, and he committed suicide by impaction.
My point is, I really liked him even though he was a bit of a turd. Very nervous, struck at anything over his head. I've heard rumors that one kind of blood is better tempered than the others. Anyone with experience, please give me your stories... I'd like to start looking for another, but want to get a nicer one this time. Thank you!

Just to clarify: all of the "bloods" are technically short-tails, but not all short-tails are bloods.

I have not observed any differences in personality or friendliness by species, but I have noticed varying personality differences. Also, stress management is a huge factor in the "friendliness" of the snake (any snake for that matter).

Get the facts on husbandry first, then find a breeder and ask for a friendly animal and if you have the chance, see and handle the animal. That is the ideal way to get the best chance of getting a friendly snake.
