I just finished my Boa Room(closet in my garage LOL). I built the cages myself from wood and glass i got from work. Each cage cost me about 10$. I have had snakes for about 20 yrs and these are the nicest cages I have built yet. Now i have 3 empty cages to fill and that's even more exciting than finishing the cages LOL. What do you think?

Thanks for lookn

congrats on the room! Cages look great and you can't beat ten bucks! Although I have a concern with regards to the light bulb. Do you plan to install a heat shroud so the snakes can't touch the bulb and burn themselves?
Other than that one concern I think you have a PRIMO set up!

They are fluorescent bulbs(energy saving) so they don't get as hot and I only turn them on when i want to view my snakes. Thanks for the post.

ahhh! ok. Cool!
Something I just thought of, any concerns about them possibly breaking the bulbs and the glass cutting the boas?

I'm not trying to break your #####, honestly. Just concerned.
Again, I think the cages are beautiful!!!!

Maybe I'm taking a gamble too but everything I keep is kept in similar cages with exposed bulbs. All my snakes have lighting unshrouded in the cage. I've never had a single burn. or broken bulb. I have heard that the only time to worry about a burn is if the ambients in the cage were too low.

On a side note I do know of someone who had shrouds. Their animal gut stuck in the shroud and burned to death. I'd rather give em the option of deciding it's too hot and backing away that possibly being stuck. I guess it's keeper's choice after all it seems that there is no 100% bullet proof heating option.
