Oh... thought I should add the enclosure measurements...

All wood enclosure...
Roughly...
48" long
24" deep
24" high

Will be housing a ball python...

Follow Bighurt's advice..

An 11x11 RHP is the smallest size you should use.

If you find it doesn't heat the snake as much as you would like, simply make a frame of wood to mount it to to lower it closer to the floor.

You pretty much can't go wrong with an RHP. My only concern in your case might be cage height, since the snake is a ground dweller. But worst case, just lower the RHP as described above.

If the room is cold, consider the next size up for the RHP. You could always get 2 11x11's and only plug in one during summer and 2 during Winter, or just use a single 11x11 and have a red heat bulb as additional heat during Winter. I did the latter because the darn room is so cold in Winter.

One of the advantages to living in SoCal... rarely ever drops below 65 in my snake room... usually always at 68 to 73... depending on the day and how much sunshine we get...

Wow, my snake room rarely drops below 65°F as well...and I live in North Dakota...

...of course power outages can happen.....

Yeah Jeremy, but I've mother nature on my side... it stay 70 without the heat on in the apartment!!
